Onthesurfaceit'sbelievedtobeanotherurbanlegend-asupernaturalbeingfromtheafterlifeisviolentlykillinganyonewhocheatsontheirsignificantotherinthesmallcollegetownofSilvercreek,Pennsylvania.Butthetown'sunusuallyhighsuiciderateisfinallyconvincingbothlocalsandcollegestudentsthateverythingisnotasitseems.WhenMaeve-afemalecollegestudent-sleepswithCharlie,themarriedmanofthehostfamilysheisstayingwith,bothsensethedeadlycurseisclosinginonthem.Unabletogetanyonetobelievethem,MaeveandCharlieseekoutalocalhistorystudenttohelpfindanswersandfigureoutawaytodefendthemselves.Itallcomesundone,however,asseveralpeoplearehorrificallykilledbythesavagebeing-one-by-oneatarapidpace.Eventually,Maeve,Charlieandthefewsurvivorsbandtogetherinanattempttodefeatthemonsteronceandforall.
